Anno 2020 (July)

The year 2020 AD

The year started innocent, with Christmas celebrations ending and a promise of a new year, with new opportunities. Oh, how wrong we all were.

Already in February there was looming a presence of a new virus, similar to SARS-CoV. In Europe we did not think much about this outbreak in Wuhan, China. It seemed common for new pathogens to always break out there. (All their dealings with wild animal consumption). We have had several viruses(pandemics) spreading from the east, like the Avian flue (H7N9), swine flue (H1H1/09), the list can go on. But this virus seemed to be different. It spread fast. A whole city was under lockdown, and thousands died. Mostly the weak, elderly and the poor. People not going to a doctor and sleeping on the streets where found dead. This new virus attacked the lungs, you would have trouble breathing and eventually suffocated you. Without proper assistance from machines, you most likely would die. Then in March a whole city in Italy was infected, then spreading to a ski resort in Austria where a lot of Europeans go skiing for Easter/Spring. From there it spread to Spain, also a big tourist attraction, and then the rest of Europe. Most countries now went in lockdown. Borders closed and flight restrictions to countries you did not reside in stopped. Governments urging their citizens to come home as quickly as possible. People stranded in far away places. Business almost bankrupt, huge handouts from governments to help small/big companies stay afloat. Bars, restaurants, hotel and the like closed for business. The world halted, stopped, and breathed. If you were lucky still with a job, you were forced to work from home, digitally, the whole world became digital. Servers around the world would kneel and have problems but made it through. Cities with high pollution problems, saw for the first time the blue skies, horizons and views that had not been seen in a decade. Reports of wildlife roaming empty streets. It almost felt like an utopia. This would last for 4 months in Europe with the slowly easing up restrictions so that small business and tourism could start again.

But in some countries people demonstrated against wearing a mask, saying it was a conspiracy the whole pandemic. And in other countries health workers, that risked their lives everyday treating the sick, were being attacked. Governments and health officials pleaded with the people as of why we had restrictions, and why the need to keep our distancing, and using high hygiene methods as washing your hands a lot, and using anti bacterial liquids and wearing masks if feeling unwell. But their still where those he did not believe in this problem. The spread of the virus was difficult to contain in these parts. Then came June. A police officer accidently killed a detainee during an arrest. A method as kneeling on the neck to pacify the arrestee went wrong. This broke out riots in several American cities. It even spread to Europe. People where fed up of being racial profiled they ment. Black Lives Matter movement arouse to its fullist, with supports of the Black Panthers. This also spread to other countries, even those that had little to no racism. Another group entered the picture. AntiFA, clinging onto the BLM movement and started being aggressive in the riots. Parts of cities where occupied, police where attacked, and the movement wanted to abolish police departments and governments. Then they started demanding the removal of historical monuments and statues, stating that the was maybe a link or two to slavery (200 ??? tears ago).  They pillaged, stole and destroyed businesses “they” deemed to racially profile.

Both these movements record everything they do and say and post on social media, similar to the ISIS and their propaganda social media outbursts during the last few years.  These fractions of the rioting have demands, in short, they want the end of white supremacist, and the right of equality no matter what race/gender you are. For Europe this is understandable, as this is what we have worked to achieve for well over 200 years.  Of course there will always be those who oppose, but that is what democracy and freedom of speech is all about.

Over the last 5 years, during the wars in the Middle East, with ISIS, anarchy and religious fanatics have been flooding our borders with it giving us the pleasure of suicide bombings, terrorist attacks on innocent victims. It comes to that, the mentality that we should share our society with those that do not agree has become a line that thickens for every attack on our democracy and freedom. What most of the European countries have worked for decades to achieve is being challenged by those we are trying to help. This in itself causes more and more people to become wary and careful. When we live in a society where people get offended over the slightest thing. Racism exists everywhere. It is not a white privilege! No matter what colour your skin is, you will experience racism, even if you are white. When you are challenged by your teachings and beliefs, where your religion is deemed unsuitable and wearing symbols is a symbol of hate towards the other.

It was bound to happen that the divide would come. There will be a change, and we are sitting in it right now. What can YOU do to make a change, what do you stand for. Or are you, like the majority , to afraid to utter your opinion because you are afraid of retaliation? Has it come so far that voicing your opinion is a near death threat. Our world is dying, and these anarchist are just making it worse. We have to defend our democracy!

And in July the Chinese passed a bill that made it illegal to protest, with severe punishments. The year is 2020! The Turkish government is selling weapons to Syrians, when they are supposed to be helping NATO stop the transport of weapons into that country. The Syria war has been going on so long, so many lives, and cities lost. Who is it that you should help in the world, ending wars, poverty, and hunger? Or your petty problems with what statues should be standing or falling?

Syria, and the surround areas like Iran, Iraq are the birthplace of democracy and society as we know and thrive in Europe today. The first cities where built in these lands, the oldest examples of sewer systems, aqueducts and governments where there. All lives matter in this world. No matter where you were born, no mater who your parents are. We are all equal at birth. We should fight for equal rights for education, for fresh water and food. We should fight for all our children to have the same opportunities in life, no matter where you are. All women should be treated equal and abolishment of trafficking of human lives and paedophilia. These are the real issues in this world. And if world leaders don’t take action, then there will be more rioting.

The year is halfway through. It will be very interesting what happens next. You can’t protest with riots, if you want to be heard it needs to be done intellectually and peaceful. These movements in the USA are just doing more harm then anything else, they are dividing their country! The social media is dividing fractions and oppositions are fighting each other, this does not help the problem. Deal with the demands, problem and solve this without pulling and back mouthing each fraction. It has nothing to do with who runs for presidency. There is a problem now, solve it, don’t use it for political gain. This is what is adding more wood to the fire. How stupid is mankind?

We need to change the world and how it is run!

In the world we live in today, (anno 2020) there is much confusion into what to believe. It is hard to know what to believe in the media ( online newspapers, tv ect). There are so many twisted truths, that finding your way to the real truth is difficult. The context of the story before and after are always diffused. How can we laymen know what truth is real? Governments lie, do not keep their promises, and alter laws hidden beneath crisis. It’s a changed world, with too many older generations running it. We need to revolt and remake our governments worldwide, to pursue peace and the removal of arms factories and all big companies that lobby their interests. Who is really in control in the world? Your leader? Or the company bringing in profits for your country? We need a change where the people are in charge. Not companies, not arm dealers, not old men and women with their own tentacles in businesses that generate profits on those who are weak and poor. There must be a stop in how the world is run. We need to unite for a common goal. To eradicate the lobbyists in all nations, the corrupt leaders who are filling their pockets from the labour and sweat of the meek. We together need to rise up and change the world. It should matter to you! We need all voices to be able to change the world. Even the smallest voice needs to be heard. What do all these world leaders meetings mean? G7, G20, NATO, UN, DAVOS ect. It’s a playground for the wealthy to get wealthier, for countries to sell and negotiate arms, oil, pollution rates ect. Why should they decide? Who put that representative in charge in that area? I surely did not. There are so many hidden people who are controlling the world, there is no transparency, if there ever was. This needs to change! Topple the big corporations that are skimming from the people, and only enlarging their bank accounts. What does a trillionaire need? Why do companies pay out millions in wages to certain people? It is a lobbyist world we live in, with secret handshakes and deals, agreements made behind closed doors. We the people of this era need to wake up and change how the world is run. We have had enough of the waste big corporations lay behind in their “developments”. Why should foreign governments have a say to other nations? Remove the pro-war companies that profit from destruction. Kill the black market, for all its ugliness, trafficking women, and children, open the closed doors, and share all information that is hidden from the public. We do not need dictators in the 21st century. We have gone past this old fashion way of handling the world. Speak up! The world’s children are dying of starvation everyday while the rich get richer and we waste more then we consume. How is the balance in that? If we cannot work as A people, how will humanity survive?  Why should you be better then your neighbour? We are all born equal, innocent, all the same. Something is wrong in this world, and we need to fix it now. Overturn all governments, let us start anew, this world does not work for the human race, it only works for them with power. It has to stop!

We need to change the way the world is governed. We do not need one leader; we need a house of leaders with backgrounds in the workforce. We do not need to be rich; we need to care for each other, have equal rights to food and water. We need to help each other and grow with the planet, not against it. Why do we need to build monuments? Why do we need to worship? Should not mother nature be enough to give you bread and water on the table, that all children have the right to equal education? Would not then, humanity rise to a better evolvement of standards of living? Education for all should be a human right, only with knowledge can we build a better world. Where everybody works for each other to create a utopia of fairness and equality, no matter the race, colour, handicap or origin. Only then will we have achieved pure, peaceful living. A society where looks do not matter, where money does not matter. Where we are all provided for by helping and trade of goods. And as for goods I mean craftmanship. I will grow food, and you can build things, or you can heal, we all need the same things, and with a world where you can produce your hearts desires and have all the opportunities to be creative, experimental and loving. What a world that would be.

Something to think about

A beautiful thing I read today:
'detail' of a painting i painted

"For each of us, eventually, whether you are ready or not, someday it will come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten will pass to someone else; your wealth, fame or temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.

It will not matter what you owned or owed, your grudges, resentments or jealousies will finally disappear. So too your ambitions, plans and to do lists will expire. The wins and losses that once seem so important will fade away.

It won't matter what side of the track you lived in. It won't matter if you are beautiful or brilliant. Even your gender and your skin color will be irrelevant.

So, what will matter is: how the value of your day will be measured. What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built. Not what you got, but what you gave. What will matter is not your success, but your significance. What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.

What will matter is not your competence but your character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting lost when you are gone. What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you.

A life lived that matters is not of circumstances… but of choice."

Tomcat 6 : howto make your app your default server app

Copied from WIKI:

How do I make my web application be the Tomcat default application ?

Congratulations. You have created and tested a first web application (traditionally called "mywebapp"), users can access it via the URL "http://myhost.company.com/mywebapp". You are very proud and satisfied. But now, how do you change the setup, so that "mywebapp" gets called when the user enters the URL "http://myhost.company.com" ?
The pages and code of your "mywebapp" application currently reside in (CATALINA_BASE)/webapps/mywebapp/. In a standard Tomcat installation, you will notice that under the same directory (CATALINA_BASE)/webapps/, there is a directory called ROOT (the capitals are important, even under Windows). That is the residence of the current Tomcat default application, the one that is called right now when a user calls up "http://myhost.company.com[:port]". The trick is to put your application in it's place.
First stop Tomcat.
Then before you replace the current default application, it may be a good idea to make a copy of it somewhere else.
Then delete everything under the ROOT directory, and move everything that was previously under the (CATALINA_BASE)/webapps/mywebapp/ directory, toward this (CATALINA_BASE)/webapps/ROOT directory. In other words, what was previously .../mywebapp/WEB-INF should now be .../ROOT/WEB-INF (and not .../ROOT/mywebapp/WEB-INF).
Just by doing this, you have already made you webapp into the Tomcat default webapp.
One step is left : you also need to have, within your application, a default servlet. This, you do by means of an appropriate url-mapping in the WEB-INF/web.xml configuration file of your application. Make sure you have something like this in that file :

    #
    # My First Servlet
    # my.Servlet.Number1
    #

    #
    # My First Servlet
    # /*
    #

Restart Tomcat and you're done.
Call up "http://myhost.company.com/" and enjoy.
