Anno 2020 (July)

The year 2020 AD

The year started innocent, with Christmas celebrations ending and a promise of a new year, with new opportunities. Oh, how wrong we all were.

Already in February there was looming a presence of a new virus, similar to SARS-CoV. In Europe we did not think much about this outbreak in Wuhan, China. It seemed common for new pathogens to always break out there. (All their dealings with wild animal consumption). We have had several viruses(pandemics) spreading from the east, like the Avian flue (H7N9), swine flue (H1H1/09), the list can go on. But this virus seemed to be different. It spread fast. A whole city was under lockdown, and thousands died. Mostly the weak, elderly and the poor. People not going to a doctor and sleeping on the streets where found dead. This new virus attacked the lungs, you would have trouble breathing and eventually suffocated you. Without proper assistance from machines, you most likely would die. Then in March a whole city in Italy was infected, then spreading to a ski resort in Austria where a lot of Europeans go skiing for Easter/Spring. From there it spread to Spain, also a big tourist attraction, and then the rest of Europe. Most countries now went in lockdown. Borders closed and flight restrictions to countries you did not reside in stopped. Governments urging their citizens to come home as quickly as possible. People stranded in far away places. Business almost bankrupt, huge handouts from governments to help small/big companies stay afloat. Bars, restaurants, hotel and the like closed for business. The world halted, stopped, and breathed. If you were lucky still with a job, you were forced to work from home, digitally, the whole world became digital. Servers around the world would kneel and have problems but made it through. Cities with high pollution problems, saw for the first time the blue skies, horizons and views that had not been seen in a decade. Reports of wildlife roaming empty streets. It almost felt like an utopia. This would last for 4 months in Europe with the slowly easing up restrictions so that small business and tourism could start again.

But in some countries people demonstrated against wearing a mask, saying it was a conspiracy the whole pandemic. And in other countries health workers, that risked their lives everyday treating the sick, were being attacked. Governments and health officials pleaded with the people as of why we had restrictions, and why the need to keep our distancing, and using high hygiene methods as washing your hands a lot, and using anti bacterial liquids and wearing masks if feeling unwell. But their still where those he did not believe in this problem. The spread of the virus was difficult to contain in these parts. Then came June. A police officer accidently killed a detainee during an arrest. A method as kneeling on the neck to pacify the arrestee went wrong. This broke out riots in several American cities. It even spread to Europe. People where fed up of being racial profiled they ment. Black Lives Matter movement arouse to its fullist, with supports of the Black Panthers. This also spread to other countries, even those that had little to no racism. Another group entered the picture. AntiFA, clinging onto the BLM movement and started being aggressive in the riots. Parts of cities where occupied, police where attacked, and the movement wanted to abolish police departments and governments. Then they started demanding the removal of historical monuments and statues, stating that the was maybe a link or two to slavery (200 ??? tears ago).  They pillaged, stole and destroyed businesses “they” deemed to racially profile.

Both these movements record everything they do and say and post on social media, similar to the ISIS and their propaganda social media outbursts during the last few years.  These fractions of the rioting have demands, in short, they want the end of white supremacist, and the right of equality no matter what race/gender you are. For Europe this is understandable, as this is what we have worked to achieve for well over 200 years.  Of course there will always be those who oppose, but that is what democracy and freedom of speech is all about.

Over the last 5 years, during the wars in the Middle East, with ISIS, anarchy and religious fanatics have been flooding our borders with it giving us the pleasure of suicide bombings, terrorist attacks on innocent victims. It comes to that, the mentality that we should share our society with those that do not agree has become a line that thickens for every attack on our democracy and freedom. What most of the European countries have worked for decades to achieve is being challenged by those we are trying to help. This in itself causes more and more people to become wary and careful. When we live in a society where people get offended over the slightest thing. Racism exists everywhere. It is not a white privilege! No matter what colour your skin is, you will experience racism, even if you are white. When you are challenged by your teachings and beliefs, where your religion is deemed unsuitable and wearing symbols is a symbol of hate towards the other.

It was bound to happen that the divide would come. There will be a change, and we are sitting in it right now. What can YOU do to make a change, what do you stand for. Or are you, like the majority , to afraid to utter your opinion because you are afraid of retaliation? Has it come so far that voicing your opinion is a near death threat. Our world is dying, and these anarchist are just making it worse. We have to defend our democracy!

And in July the Chinese passed a bill that made it illegal to protest, with severe punishments. The year is 2020! The Turkish government is selling weapons to Syrians, when they are supposed to be helping NATO stop the transport of weapons into that country. The Syria war has been going on so long, so many lives, and cities lost. Who is it that you should help in the world, ending wars, poverty, and hunger? Or your petty problems with what statues should be standing or falling?

Syria, and the surround areas like Iran, Iraq are the birthplace of democracy and society as we know and thrive in Europe today. The first cities where built in these lands, the oldest examples of sewer systems, aqueducts and governments where there. All lives matter in this world. No matter where you were born, no mater who your parents are. We are all equal at birth. We should fight for equal rights for education, for fresh water and food. We should fight for all our children to have the same opportunities in life, no matter where you are. All women should be treated equal and abolishment of trafficking of human lives and paedophilia. These are the real issues in this world. And if world leaders don’t take action, then there will be more rioting.

The year is halfway through. It will be very interesting what happens next. You can’t protest with riots, if you want to be heard it needs to be done intellectually and peaceful. These movements in the USA are just doing more harm then anything else, they are dividing their country! The social media is dividing fractions and oppositions are fighting each other, this does not help the problem. Deal with the demands, problem and solve this without pulling and back mouthing each fraction. It has nothing to do with who runs for presidency. There is a problem now, solve it, don’t use it for political gain. This is what is adding more wood to the fire. How stupid is mankind?
